निनुकुमारी कर्णको राजनीतिक यात्रा २०४६ सालको जनआन्दोलनबाट सुरु भएको हो, जतिबेला उनी कक्षा १० मा पढ्दै थिइन्। जनकपुरमा भएको आन्दोलनमा सहभागी हुँदै उनले प्रजातन्त्र प्राप्तिका लागि संघर्ष सुरु गरिन्। उनी महेन्द्रनारायण निधिको नातिनी र विमलेन्द्र निधिको भान्जी भए तापनि उनले आफ्नै बलियो राजनीतिक पहिचान बनाएकी छिन्। विद्यार्थी जीवनमा नेविसंघ धनुषाको जिल्ला सदस्य, त्रि-चन्द्र कलेजको इकाई सदस्य र तराई विद्यार्थी मञ्चको महासचिव भएर काम गरेकी कर्ण हाल नेपाल महिला संघको केन्द्रीय सदस्य हुन्। उनी २०८२ सालको निर्वाचनमा नेपाली कांग्रेसको तर्फबाट मधेश महिला क्लस्टर अन्तर्गत समानुपातिक प्रणालीबाट प्रतिनिधिसभा सदस्य निर्वाचित भएकी हुन्।
