गीता गुरुङ नेपाली काङ्ग्रेसबाट समानुपातिकतर्फ प्रतिनिधिसभा सदस्य हुन्। उनको चयन आदिवासी जनजाति, महिला समूहबाट भएको हो। सोलुखुम्बुको दुर्गम गाउँमा जन्मिएकी ३० वर्षीया गीता गुरुङ यसपटकको संघीय निर्वाचनपश्चात् प्रतिनिधि सभामा नेपाली कांग्रेसको तर्फबाट सबैभन्दा कान्छी सांसद बनेकी छन्। हिमाली क्षेत्रको कडा परिश्रम र संघर्षपूर्ण वातावरणमा हुर्किएकी उनले आफ्नो बाल्यकालदेखि नै राजनीतिक चेत राख्दै आएकी थिइन्। नेविसंघको राजनीतिबाट यात्रा सुरु गरेकी गीताले अहिले राष्ट्रिय राजनीतिमा एक आशालाग्दो युवा अनुहारको रूपमा पहिचान बनाएकी छन्। उनले संसद्मा युवा, महिला र विशेष गरी हिमाली क्षेत्रका बासिन्दाका समस्याहरूलाई सशक्त रूपमा उठाउने संकल्प गरेकी छन्।
