Shahjan Khatun serves in the House of Representatives for Nepali Congress, selected through proportional representation under the Muslim, Female group after Nepal's 2026 general election. A 40-year-old doctor from Rautahat. Shahjan Khatun was defeated in the local level election of 2079 by a narrow margin for the post of Deputy Chief of Gaur Municipality. Undeterred by the defeat, Khatun continued to be active in social service and party politics. Appreciating his patience and commitment to the community, the Nepali Congress has elected him as a member of the House of Representatives (MP) from the proportional quota.
