Ratna Kumari Thapa serves in the House of Representatives for Rastriya Swatantra Party, selected through proportional representation under the Khas Arya, Female, Backward Area group after Nepal's 2026 general election. The life of 41-year-old Ratna Thapa Dhami from Achham is an inspiring story of struggle, sacrifice and determination. After getting married at the age of 20, she also pursued her studies and career while taking on the responsibilities of daughter-in-law and mother. Taking care of young children in a remote environment, she passed the Primary Level Teacher Licensure Examination and taught at "Saraswati Madhyamik Vidyalaya" for 10 years. Along with the teaching profession, she also completed her studies up to graduation level. However, when both of her husband's kidneys were seriously affected, she made the difficult decision to come to Kathmandu for her husband's treatment, putting aside her 10-year long teaching career and personal dreams. The confinement of Kathmandu's closed rooms and hospitals made him realize the need for social and political change.
