Also known as: Basumaya Tamang

Basu Maya Tamang serves in the House of Representatives for Rastriya Swatantra Party, selected through proportional representation under the Janajati, Female group after Nepal's 2026 general election. The life journey of 54-year-old Basumaya Tamang, who was recommended as a proportional member of parliament by the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RASWPA) is very challenging and inspiring. Born in Ruby Valley of Dhading, she came to Kathmandu with her family at a young age and had to face poverty and hardship. Although she passed her IA from Padmakanya College in 2049, she could not continue her higher education as the responsibility of the family fell upon her after the death of her father. To earn a living, she also did hard physical labor like spinning wool, knitting sweaters and carrying sand in the Bishnumati river at night.
