Sujata Tamang serves in the House of Representatives for Rastriya Swatantra Party, selected through proportional representation under the Janajati, Female group after Nepal's 2026 general election. Dr. Sujata Tamang was born in Tumlingtar of Sankhuwasabha in an ordinary farmer family. Born as the sixth child among seven siblings, Sujata completed her studies up to class 7 at her birthplace. Growing up in a family that depended on agriculture economically, she got the opportunity to get higher education by coming to Kathmandu via Dharan, Hetaunda and Chitwan with the help of her brothers. She holds a master's degree in rural development from Tribhuvan University and a PhD from the University of New South Wales in Australia on 'Role of Women in Food Security in Rural Areas of Nepal'.
